Getting Started With Cardio

When you have been sedentary or ill for a period of time and are just jumping into your new routine again, or for first-timers, you should have your eye on one thing.  Pay attention more to duration than intensity.  The longer that you can stay in your exercise, the more intensity you will gain.
The reason for this is that your heart is not conditioned yet.  You simply will just go into oxygen-debt too fast and lose energy to keep on.
So, instead, gradually increase the time increments, and when you get to a good 30-40 minutes with light or moderate activity with no breaks, you will be able to push yourself harder and see results more quickly.  With time and effort, you should gain stamina and reach your goals without injury from pushing so hard along with speeding up your weight loss efforts.
Focus on your stamina.  It can be a slow progress depending on the person's ability to perform, but you're going to have to take it one day at a time.

The Cardio Craze

Most people have a hard time staying motivated when it comes to exercising.  Really, who wants to sweat and be sore for leisure?  I know I don't.  Cardio definately has its benefits, you just simply have to outweight the pros and cons of committing to a good cardio routine.
My best advice is to pick an activity that you enjoy most.  For me, it's mountain biking, swimming, running and weight lifting.
Secondly, always try to stay motivated.  Go get some fitness magazines, look through the pictures and success stories, cut them out even!  Then, post them everywhere.  A constant reminder will always be in your face to remind you of your goals, and keep you working for achievement.
Cardio has so many benefits, it's unbelievable.  You can add YEARS to your life being heart-healthy, and the best way to do that (other than eating right)is CARDIO.
So, when you feel sluggish, fat, lazy, etc., always remember to work some of your steam off with any cardio exercise.
